New free singing group at Marine Hall, Fleetwood

Dr Mark Spencer

Marine Hall, together with Healthier Fleetwood, is hosting a brand new weekly singing group starting on 26 September.

The partnership is inviting people to come along to the Health and Harmony singing group every Tuesday at 1.30pm – 3pm. You don’t need to have any singing experience, the classes are simply about reviving your spirits in a welcoming environment with friendly people. It’s a good opportunity for people to get out, meet new friends and enjoy trying something new.

Every week participants can look forward to a physical and mental workout with classes that are designed to help improve breathing, while you sing the songs you love.

Healthier Fleetwood is a partnership initiative set up to positively address some of the growing issues affecting the long-term health and wellbeing of people living in and around the town. Dr Mark Spencer (pictured) of Mount View Practice played a key role in setting up the Healthier Fleetwood project and comments, “The Harmony and Health singing group is something completely new that can boost residents’ mental and physical health. It’s a chance to meet new people whilst having fun.”

Councillor Vivien Taylor, Health and Community Engagement Portfolio Holder at Wyre Council comments, “This singing group is a great example of how we are working with partners to deliver a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. It is classes like this that help bring the community together and give people the chance to join a group and try something new for free.”

The course runs from 26 September to 19 December at Marine Hall and is free. Tea and coffee will be available for just £1. If you would like to register for the course, call Marine Hall on 01253 887693.
